That said, I am not certain this is a direct result of the pace which people view digital media. The Louvre is a huge museum. Some tourists may not have the time to absorb everything there…both French and American.

The Louvre’s New $67 Million Wing

Louvre Director Henri Loyrette has decided to house the museum’s Islamic art collection in a gorgeous new wing. Wow.

“It was not even a department when I arrived,” said Mr. Loyrette. “We did not want to make this a separate museum because Islamic art is so artistically and politically important. It’s so closely linked with all of Western art.”
